Vacations and other opportunities for parents who care for children during the quarantine period

On March 12, 2020, the resolution of the CMU "On preventing the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus on the territory of Ukraine" entered into force, according to which a quarantine was introduced throughout Ukraine from March 12 to April 3. This precaution prohibits:

  • visits to educational institutions by its recipients;
  • conducting all mass events in which more than 200 people participate, except for events necessary to ensure the work of state authorities and local self-government bodies. Sports events are allowed to be held without the participation of spectators (fans).

In this regard, there is a corresponding letter from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

This led to the emergence of a number of questions, the main of which is that the quarantine was introduced, where to put the children?

In this regard, we would like to remind you of important information regarding vacations and other opportunities to provide care for children during the quarantine period.

In order to stay at home with your child during the quarantine period, you can use:

Annual leave outside the schedule.

It is provided to persons with disabilities, women who have two or more children under the age of 15 or a child with disabilities, women before or after childbirth, single mothers (fathers), spouses (husbands) of military personnel.

Additional leave (10 calendar days).

It is given to a woman who has 2 or more children under the age of 15 or a child with a disability or an adult child - a person with a disability since childhood of subgroup A of the I group.

Vacation at your own expense for the quarantine period.

It must be given to mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, and other persons who take care of a child under the age of 14 during the period of declaration of quarantine in the relevant territory (clause 3-1 of Article 25 of the Law on Holidays).

  • Employee statement (mandatory);
  • evidence of family ties (for grandparents);
  • certificate from school (kindergarten) about quarantine.

Vacation at own expense by agreement of the parties (15 days)

It can be granted to all employees with the agreement of the employer and the employee, but no more than 15 calendar days per year (for the period of quarantine, such leave can be granted for more than 15 days.

Part time.

It must be given to a pregnant woman, a woman who has a child under the age of 14 or a child with a disability. May be provided with the consent of the employer for all employees. Salary is proportional to the time worked or depending on production.

  • order;
  • schedule change.

Home work (remote work).

During the quarantine period, the employer may instruct an employee, including a civil servant, an employee of a local self-government body, to perform the work specified in the employment contract at home for a certain period.
