Amendments to the Code of Labor Laws and the Law of Ukraine "On Vacation"

On March 17, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law (registration number 3219) "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine, Aimed at Preventing the Occurrence and Spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)". It amends the Code of Labor Laws, the Law of Ukraine "On Vacations".The law has a temporary effect - within three months from the date of its publication.

The main changes concern the following:

  • The limit on the number of days of vacation without salary for the quarantine period is removed;
  • During the period of quarantine or restrictive measures related to the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the employer may instruct an employee, including a civil servant, an employee of a local self-government body, to perform the work specified in the employment contract at home for a certain period, as well as provide leave to an employee, including a civil servant, an employee of a local self-government body, with his consent;
  • Within a week, establish additional payments to the wages of medical and other workers who are directly employed in the work to eliminate the disease among people due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the amount of up to 200 percent of the salary for the period of implementation of measures to prevent the occurrence and spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), until the completion of these measures, as well as additional payments to certain categories of employees who provide the main areas of life.
