NGO "La Strada-Ukraine" has begun implementing a restoration project together with the women's movement of Ukraine

NGO “La Strada-Ukraine” has launched the project “Building a Gender-Inclusive Recovery Together with the Women’s Movement of Ukraine” with financial support from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad). The initiative aims to strengthen women’s human rights organizations and actively involve them in the processes of rebuilding the country in the context of a full-scale war.

The main goal of the project is to strengthen the capacity of women's human rights organizations, promote gender equality, and implement gender-inclusive recovery approaches.

Project implementation has begun on organizing and conducting specialized trainings for representatives of women's public organizations. Over several eventful days, participants deepened their knowledge in identifying and responding to cases of gender-based violence, including domestic violence, and learned more about strengthening the capacities and potential of their organizations.

Specialist of the NGO "La Strada-Ukraine", who conducted the training provided the participants with practical tools that allow strengthening both the public sector on the ground and interaction with relevant response actors.

The project paid particular attention to building effective cooperation between different sectors in responding to cases of gender-based violence, including domestic violence. That is why the NGO “La Strada-Ukraine” organized a series of trainings to build effective cooperation between public organizations and response entities in the field of preventing and combating gender-based violence, in particular, domestic violence, which brought together representatives of public organizations, social services, law enforcement agencies, and the judiciary.

In total, the training events covered about 60 participants from 9 regions of UkraineThey had the opportunity to exchange practical experiences, discuss challenges and gaps in their work, and develop updated, more effective response algorithms at the community level.

The training participants noted the practical value of the training and its direct impact on future work:

“I plan to organize an educational event on the prevention of domestic violence and strengthen coordination with colleagues from other sectors on practical cooperation in the field of combating gender-based violence” – A training participant spoke about her future plans.

The events were held by specialists from the NGO “La Strada-Ukraine” in cooperation with the National Social Service, the National Police of Ukraine, and the National Training Center for Prevention and Counteraction to Gender-Based Violence at the Higher School of Public Administration.

“Thank you for the valuable practical knowledge. There is a lot to rethink and build a clear roadmap for ourselves regarding the functions and responsibilities of various bodies in combating domestic violence” – says one of the training participants.

Such intersectoral cooperation serves as a real-life example of how the state and civil society can act in synergy to ensure the best interests of affected individuals.

“I will use the knowledge I have gained in my work to provide quality assistance to victims, as well as to improve cooperation with the police, social services, and other institutions for a faster and more effective response” – A training participant emphasized the importance of learning.
