Over the past five years, more than 1.1 million calls for help due to domestic violence have been recorded in Ukraine - interview with the TV channel "DIM"

Over the past five years, Ukraine has recorded over 1.1 million complaints of domestic violence. Since the beginning of this year alone, there have been almost 20,000, and most of the complaints come from women.

At the same time, children are increasingly seeking help. Why do people remain silent for years, who calls hotlines most often, and where should those in danger turn?

We talked about this with Valeria Bondar, a consultant for the National Hotlines of the NGO “La Strada-Ukraine” and project manager. Details in the video👇

If we talk about the trend that was during the Covid period or before the full-scale invasion, then I would really like to tell you now said that there 90% calls concern mainly women, because our hotline also notes a higher number of calls It is from women, that is, the affected persons are women.
But besides that, since the start of the full-scale invasion on the hot The hotline was contacted by men who directly reported that they were victims of domestic violence. And speaking of Today, the public organization La Strada-Ukraine supports the activities of the psychological support line for men.
Actually, on this hotline, we are seeing an increase in the number of such calls, because Men call and say, “I’m uncomfortable talking, but I’m in a domestic violence situation and I don’t know how to get out of it.”
AND this is how the conversation starts and the consultation is provided. And we see that men also find themselves in situations of domestic violence, are addressed, but, of course, there are mostly more women and children, – Valeria Bondar said this in a comment.
