Even before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the problem of domestic violence was acute for Ukraine. However, since February 24, 2022, this problem has become significantly more relevant, because in crisis situations, all negative social phenomena are always exacerbated, and situations of violence, unfortunately, are no exception.
In 2022, the National Hotline for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, Human Trafficking and Gender Discrimination received 38,472 appeals. Almost 90% of them is an appeal for the prevention of domestic violence. In percentage terms, these indicators are almost the same as in peacetime. But it is necessary to understand that with the beginning of a full-scale war, many restrictions appeared in the possibilities of victims to ask for help or to report a case of violence. So it is quite possible to assume that in reality the number of victims of domestic violence is much higher, simply because of a number of objective or subjective reasons it is not possible to record all cases.
